Dîner En Blanc Style Inspiration

Le Dîner en Blanc is a worldwide event, where people flash-gather in a public space and set up a temporary, chic dining area.The principles of the event are simply that guests dress formally in white; and that they enjoy quality food, wine and good company.

Now I think this seems like a really classy but fun event, so I thought I would give you a few Diner En Blanc style inspirations for you and for you and your date.

Beyonce wins 2016 CFDA Fashion Icon

Slay Beyonce Slay!

Queen Bey continues to slay everything! The singer 

Beyonce accepted the Style Icon Award from CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg. Queen Bey wore a Givenchy head-to-toe crystal-studded pantsuit with an enormous wide-brimmed hat at the dais. Knowles, who joins the ranks of Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Pharrell Williams in winning the prestigious award, shared some heartfelt anecdotes about how fashion was a part of her life, even before she was born, as her grandmother worked as a seamstress to put her mother through Catholic school. She also delved deep into her mother designing her wedding dress, prom dress, and Destiny's Child costumes when high-end designers all declined to outfit the group.

"Thank you guys for this incredible honor. As long as I can remember, fashion has always been a part of my life. Its affect on me started before I was born. Most of you don’t know this, but my grandmother was a seamstress. My grandparents did not have enough money and could not afford my mother’s Catholic school tuition, so my grandmother’s sewed clothes for the priests and the nuns and made the uniforms for the students in exchange for my mother’s education. She then passed this gift down to my mother and taught her how to sew.

When we were starting out in Destiny’s Child, high-end labels didn’t really want to dress four black, country, curvy girls, and we couldn’t afford designer dresses and couture. My mother was rejected from every showroom in New York, but like my grandmother, she used her talent and creativity to give her children her dreams. My mother and my uncle Johnny, God rest his soul, designed all of our first costumes and made each piece by hand, individual sewing hundreds of crystals and pearls, putting so much passion and love into every small detail. And when I wore those clothes I felt like Khaleesi. It was so much deeper than any brand name. My mother, who is so fabulous and beautiful and is here tonight, [and] my grandmother and my uncle are always with me, so I cannot fail.

My mother actually designed my wedding dress, my prom dress, my first CFDA dress, my first Grammy dress, and the list goes on and on and on. And this to me is the true power and potential of fashion. It’s a tool for finding your own identity, expression and strength. It transcends style and is a time capsule of all of our greatest milestones. So to my mother, my uncle, my grandma, thank y’all. Thank you for showing me that having presence is far more than the clothes you wear, and your physical being. Thank you for showing me never to take no for an answer. Thank you for showing me how to take risks, work hard, and live life by my own terms.

I want to say thank you to every designer that works tirelessly to make people feel they can write their own story. Y’all are fairy godmothers, magicians, sculptors, sometimes even our therapists. I encourage you to not forget this power that you have, or take it lightly. We have an opportunity to contribute to a society where any girl can look at a billboard or a magazine cover and see her own reflection.


Soul has no color, no shape, no form. Just like all of your work if goes so far beyond what they eyes can see. You have the power to change perception, to inspire, and empower, to show people how to embrace their complications and see the flaws and true beauty, and strength that’s inside of all of us. Thank you so much for this incredible award, I’ll never forget this night, God bless you all."

Yesterday was the CFDA Fashion Awards which was held at the Hammerstein ballroom in New York City.

The annual event recognize the outstanding contributions made to American fashion by individuals from all areas of the industry and related arts, with awards being given for design excellence in womenswear, menswear and accessories as well as accomplishments in journalism, creative vision, and lifetime achievement. 

Stars like Karlie Kloss, Lena Dunham, Naomi Campbell, Lauren Conrad, Olivia Wilde, Emily Ratajkowski, and Beyoncé were there. The stars came out to support their designer friends and show of their fabulous styles.
