Nina Simon VS Zoe Saldana

The biopic to the iconic Nina Simone is here, and it's not getting the love that a few people expected. Zoe who plays the legendary performer and civil rights activist, there's been a lot of talk and backlash as she appears to have darker skin and a wider nose in a poster and video promoting the movie.

Unfortunately, the actress has had to defend playing the role of Nina Simone for nearly three years now, and it seems like it's only just beginning.

After the release of the trailer and seeing posters for the new movie, Zoe Saldana has come under fire for apparently going under 'blackface' in a trailer for the new Nina Simone biopic after her casting was attacked because she is too 'light skinned'. We still have passed this too light skinned or too dark skinned thing. This is what happened to actress Zendaya when she got the role to play singer Aaliyah.

To make matters even worse, on Wednesday an official Nina Simone Twitter account tweeted
"@zoesaldana cool story but please take Nina's name out of your mouth for the rest of your life"

The Afro-Latina actress, 37, the retweeted it. Ouch, isn't that a bit harsh?

Okay, so maybe they could have found another actress that was closer to Nina's complexion, however, maybe there was more to the hiring procedure. Who knows maybe they went for darker complexion actress's but they turned it down, who knows.

All I'm saying that it isn't right for all the hate and rude comments to Zoe Saldana. She tried her best, she worked hard and tried to portray Nina Simone the best way she could.

When this Nina Simon biopic film was first talked about Zoe had some words to say. Last year, Saldana admitted in an interview with InStyle magazine that she might be the wrong woman for the role. She said -
"I didn’t think I was right for the part, and I know a lot of people will agree, but then again, I don’t think Elizabeth Taylor was right for Cleopatra either,"

Supporters of Simone's music and work criticized movie bosses for casting Saldana - an American of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent
