Ri Ri’s ANTI has grabbed TIDAL over 1 million new trial subscriptions in just 15 hours, breaking all of the streaming service’s previous records. The album was reportedly streamed over 13 million times during the first 14 hours as well further proving that fans will wait as long as it takes to hear their adored Barbados-born songstress.
Jay Z, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Daft Punk, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Usher, Alicia Keys and J. Cole have all initially streamed albums under TIDAL but none have done as Rihanna. Apparently, these new statistics have helped TIDAL big time! However, rumour has it that Samsung’s partnership with TIDAL helped as well, as they gave away 1 million download codes for a free digital copy of the LP. Users also didn’t have to provide any credit card information, so all free trials TIDAL procured don’t necessarily mean paid subscriptions post-trial period.
Similarly, the big help should come as good news to TIDAL as they’ve been struggling up until this point to compete with the likes of Spotify and Apple Music. They recently hired their third CEO in a year.
